Nice Cream 2 Ways–Tropical & Strawberry Peach!

Hey guys!  So I have to admit I am quite late to the nice cream bandwagon.  I’ve been seeing the creamy banana-based concoction for quite a while, but was always skeptical that it would actual be delicious enough to replace the rare bowl of vegan ice cream I’ll indulge in.  Don’t get me wrong, I love fruit.  It just does not always satisfy my sweet tooth if the sugar monster is hitting me strong.

I was totally wrong in my assumption!  Using really fresh, ripe fruit and mixing in the little bit of coconut cream to add some healthy fat and texture absolutely measures up to the real thing.  I am now kicking myself that I waited so long to try making it.  I have been making sure to buy extra bananas every time I go to the store now just to have a few extra ready to ripen and go in the freezer.


I shared the tropical version on my Facebook and Instagram pages, but I wanted to make sure to include it in my post so it is easy to find (for me and you)!  I imagine either version would still be delicious without the coconut if you want to opt for an even lower calorie option, but I think it definitely brings it up a notch to make it seem more like ice cream instead of just a smoothie bowl. 😉

I will definitely be trying out many more combinations as the hot weather really gets into full swing here!


Tropical Bliss Nice Cream

  • 1 frozen banana, chopped
  • 1-2 small mangos, peeled, chopped & frozen
  • 1/2 cup frozen chopped pineapple
  • 1/4 cup coconut cream*
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

Place everything in the food processor or high-speed blender and blend together until smooth and creamy!  Serve straight away or put pack into the freezer for 30 minutes or longer if you want it really cold or if it started to melt as you blended it.  We ate all of it before it had a chance to melt. 😉


*I used a can of coconut milk, scraping the creamier part from the top where it separated from the rest of the liquid.  I also added a tablespoon or so of the liquid to get everything started blending together.


Strawberry Peach Nice Cream

  • 1 frozen banana, chopped
  • 1 cup halved frozen strawberries
  • 1 fresh or frozen peach, chopped
  • 1/4 cup coconut cream (see note above)

Same process as above! 🙂  The strawberries take a little bit more to break down, so I did let them thaw just a bit before blending.  Since I used a fresh peach I did put this batch in the freezer to harden up a bit after mixing, but couldn’t wait too long to give it a try!
