Georgia Peach BBQ Sauce {Vegan, Oil-Free}

Hey everyone!  I have another delicious recipe inspired by all of my favorite summer flavors today.  Earlier in the season I made a sweet and tangy strawberry BBQ sauce, and even then I knew I would love to try something similar with in-season local peaches.  Nothing beats fruit right off the tree.  Peaches are so juicy and sweet when eaten fresh, so they also make the perfect addition to really amp up the flavor of a sauce!

I used the same base for my earlier sauce and just made a few small changes to see how it would come out.  I definitely was not disappointed!  It made the perfect accompaniment to my bowl full of other Southern seasonal staples–eggplant and lady peas.  Peach season is just about ended here now, so definitely give this recipe a try while you can!

Peach BBQ Sauce
Makes about 1 1/2 cups

  • 4-5 ripe peaches, pitted & quartered
  • 1 chipotle chili pepper in adobo sauce
  • 1 small fresh jalapeno, seeded & roughly chopped (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons organic tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium tamari or liquid aminos
  • 2 tablespoons black cherry balsamic vinegar (sub regular balsamic if needed)
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Place all of the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until completely incorporated and smooth.  Taste and adjust any ingredients to your liking.

Pour into a medium saucepan.  Bring just to a boil, then simmer on low for 30 minutes to let all of the flavors meld together. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.  Use as is for a sauce, or slather over your favorite veggies and beans to cook some more!
